Readings

The following books are available at the CSU Bookstore, located in the new CSU Student Center at 2121 Euclid Avenue, http://www.csuohiobookstore.com. It is your responsibility to have all required books in hand in time to complete assignments.

Additional readings are available online. A number of these readings are linked to CSU’s Electronic Course Reserve (ECR) at http://library.csuohio.edu and will require you to enter your CSU ID. You should bring a copy of required reading to class on the day for which it is assigned.

Blog

The course blog serves three purposes:
(1) It provides 24-hour-a-day access to the course syllabus, assignments, and announcements and updates;
(2) It offers a forum for generating discussion about assigned reading and the course project;
(3) It provides a place where you will post your mini documentaries and offer constructive criticism to each other.

By September 2, I expect you to sign up for a blog account at http://clevelandhistory.org/register/, which will enable you to interact on the blog.  This should take 5 minutes, give or take.

Step 1: Complete the registration form and edit your profile if desired. You will receive a confirmation email. You must click the confirmation link to complete your registration. If you do not receive the confirmation email within 1 hour, check your spam folder and then contact Erin Bell (Project Coordinator for the CPHDH) at e.j.bell93@csuohio.edu for help if needed. Do not complete the step to create a new blog.

Step 2: Request membership to the “Public History” group at http://clevelandhistory.org/groups by clicking the “Request Membership” button next to the group header and logo.

Step 3: Once your membership has been approved, you will be able to post to the shared course blog, accessible from your profile page or from the top “admin bar” under “My Blogs.”

Using the blog: You may either compose directly in a blog post or copy-paste from a text editor such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac), but do not use Word or any other word processing program because it will cause significant formatting issues that will mar the appearance of your post.
